The Adventures of Disgraph T. Dwarf

Before anyone gets too confused, yes this is next installment in the comic arc I’ve been running the past few weeks.  Seems like Disgraph didn’t fare too well with the Lich King between this comic and the last one.

Really interested to see the response this comic gets.  Tried a couple new things in this one.  Obviously, Disgraph is now a villain.  Kinda.  So he was kinda out for the joke telling portion of the comic.  Sure, I could have made his reveal as a Death Stalker more comical, but I wanted to see how a dramatic shift in his character would work.  Don’t worry, Disgraph isn’t all evil and unfunny now.  You’ll see what I mean later.

Also had some trying some different art things, like trying dramatic camera angles (and hopefully not annoying readers with them) as well as some new photoshop things with the dark portal and Disgraph’s reveal.  I actually really like the panel with his eyes.  SO I’m happy.

Also, is it obvious I don’t play on an RP server?  I have a few friends who do, so I pick up some terms from them here and there.  My total RP time is probably about half a game of D&D before I couldn’t take it any more.  I was trying to get into it, but it’s kinda hard when all the other players know what they’re doing and you don’t.  I got really tired of breaking character and having to ask “Which dice do I roll now?” about every two minutes.

Welcome to the first post of something slightly different.  Instead of posting my comments about this week’s comic with said comic, like I’ve done in the past, gonna start posting the separate blog meant for such texts.  Should help keep things a little better organized, if I ever need things better organized.

Yea so, two weeks in a row.  Let’s see if I can keep that pace going.  Actually, I’m really enjoying this story arc and am really glad I decided to do it.  I was thinking about it over the hiatus and kinda hesitant. Here’s my problem with WoW comics doing story arcs.  It’s very easy to get carried away with telling a story and you can forget to tell jokes.  Or you don’t tell as many jokes.  Or you just leave the reader on a cliff hanger waiting for next week without any humor what so ever.  Now, I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that, but I don’t want to do that.  It works for a comic like Looking For Group but not for Disgraph T. Dwarf.

That said, I’m really pleased with how this arc is turning out so far.  I think it’s just as funny as the normal one comic plots, and I hope I’m not alone in thinking that… So this will probably continue a few more weeks.  I don’t have every week planned out, just a general idea of where it’s going.  I’m interested to see how things play out with Disgraph and the Lich King.  Aren’t you?

Update is under way.  Got the graphics card going.  Will be up by the time you wake up tomorrow morning.

Here’s the situation down here at HQ.  My graphics card has been messed up for the past month.  Sadly, that  just seems to be the age of my machine showing itself,  Obviously, I need good graphics to to make a comic.  It’s really a damn game of russian roulette.  I restart the computer and there’s a 50/50 shot it’ll behave.  It goes through good times and bad ones.

Sadly, the past three days have been bad graphics.  I’m gonna keep fighting with it, don’t you worry.  It pisses me off because not only can I not make a comic, it makes the game damn near un-playable.
