Wrath Of The LoL King

Laughing His Frozen Ass Off

And so the saga continues with another fun little turn.  Turns out Disgraph wasn’t that undead after all.  Just hanging out.  Think of him as a reluctant Cult of the Damned member.  Still living and all, just doing undead things.  Who knows, maybe the fact that he’s not undead might just help a little further down the Quel’Delar chain.  Who knows.

Good news though.  Next weeks comic will definitely be on time.  Bad news: Don’t know beyond that though.  I got the models and screens for next week the same time I got this week’s, literally seconds before the graphics card fubar’d again.  In fact, I actually have WoW running in the background right now, hoping it will sort itself out again.  We shall see.

Other goings ons…I may, emphasis on may, be starting a new fiction piece based on WoW and posting it here in segments each here.  For those who don’t know, I did one a while back for the Blizzard Writing Contest.  Despite the outcomes and all, I actually did have a fun time writing Skybreaker.  Seeing as I’m pretty bored these days, thinking about writing another one for fun.  I like the concept I have and the plot.  Just a few plot holes to figure out first.  Hey, we’ll see that happens.

Just because it’s fiction and I’m a fan of WoW, that doesn’t make it fan fiction.  Right?  /sigh

Down With the Dwarven Bourgeoisie

The time has come my gnomish brothers and sisters!  It is time that we throw off the the oppression of the King Magni and dwarven capitalism and reclaim our birthright as proud upstanding gnomes of the alliance.  Children of Gnomeregan, now is the time to reclaim our homeland from the fascist troggs.  Now is the time to create a Gnomish Republic, where are gnomes are treated as equals, where we share our wealth among all gnomes and the greater glory of our Gnomer Land!

-High Tinker Gelbin Mekkatorque

(Dictated, But Not Read)

Ok, enough of my attempts of roleplaying, which border more on the line of lunatic’s rant.

Possible gnome spoilers ahead.  Yea  be warned:

So if you haven’t heard yet, the gnomes are going back to Gnomeregan in one of the upcoming patches (likely 3.3.3).  I have to admit, for some reason I got giddy as a school girl at a Backstreet Boys concert (we’re referencing my childhood here, not the boy bands of today).  And yea, I guess the Trolls are going back too, but I don’t really care that much about those guys.

One of the quests to help the gnomes involves “motivating” gnome citizens to enlist, in what I can only assume, is to be the Grand Army of the United Peoples Republic of Gnomeregan. I also saw something about placing posters (related to radiation fall out, but whatever) and my mind got to thinking.  About Stalinist Soviet-era propaganda of course!  Behold the inspiration for this piece of filler.

Learn more about this poster, including translation, at A Soviet Poster A Day

Ah yes, my madness continues.  But I did have a lot of fun working on this poster.  At least two more are in progress, and maybe, some other retaking of Gnomeregan projects.  In all actuality though, I have so much fun taking real world events/actions and transposing them using the WoW setting and environment.  The main reason I love working on the comic.

As for the comic proper, I was able to get the models for the next two weeks of comics before the graphics card went on me again.  Don’t know what I’m talking about? My bad graphics card explanation and visual evidence. Eew.  So, you’re guaranteed comics for the next two weeks anyway.  Hopefully the graphics card acts normally again before then.  New comic will probably be up Sunday evening or Monday, depending on when I feel like posting it.

Ok that’s enough for now.  Long post is long.  If you want more updates, you can always follow me on The Twitter.  I tend to post comic status stuff there fairly often.  Ok, done now

Bad Graphics = No Comics :(

Sigh.  It never fails.  As soon as I get a nice consistent update streak going, something comes up to ruin my fun.  This time?  The unholy wrath of a graphics card scorned!

Look at it!  I know it’s repulsive, but you must look damn it.  Our journey is just beginning.  You must be strong if we’re gonna make it through this…together.

This beast knows no limits.  Not only does it does it stalk me in the halls of Ironforge, but it has followed me through the frozen hills of Northrend and even ascended to the mystic towers of Dalaran.  Quickly, let us to take to the skies before its too late!

Blast!  This virus is spreading across the landscape!  My god, its mutating as well!  How am I supposed to ride a gryphon comfortably with sharp polygons up my dwarf ass?

I don’t even know what’s going on anymore.  Are you still with me?  Good.  I thought I’d lost you in that polygon that almost looked like a dragon on a date with a busty tuskarr.  Stay with me, we’re almost through!

My god look at the size of that polygon!  Its coming right for us!  Hang on, I’m gonna try and lose this fiend on the farthest point north in the world, Hrothgar Landing.

Well then.  Uhm…yea.  I guess that’s it then.  Even worse out here with the fog effect.  Thank god for the name plates.  It’s really the only way I can kinda sort of play.  Obviously, I don’t play much outside of dailies and such.  Maybe the occasional dungeon, depending on how bad the graphics are.  If it’s like the first picture, WoW is almost playable.  But obviously, there are times its near impossible to see.

But wait there’s more to see!  You really don’t get the full frustration until you the graphics card having having a seizure until you see it on motion.  Behold…

So there you have it.  Thanks for taking the journey with me to f’d up graphics ville.  The card has its good days and bad.  It had a good day about mid-week and then died again halfway through grabbing models for the next couple comics.  Sorry again for delays.  I’ll have things up when I can :(

But for now, a spoiler of what’s in store for Disgraph in the next few weeks.

Notes on the Finer Points of Death Stalking

Before anyone gets too confused, yes this is next installment in the comic arc I’ve been running the past few weeks.  Seems like Disgraph didn’t fare too well with the Lich King between this comic and the last one.

Really interested to see the response this comic gets.  Tried a couple new things in this one.  Obviously, Disgraph is now a villain.  Kinda.  So he was kinda out for the joke telling portion of the comic.  Sure, I could have made his reveal as a Death Stalker more comical, but I wanted to see how a dramatic shift in his character would work.  Don’t worry, Disgraph isn’t all evil and unfunny now.  You’ll see what I mean later.

Also had some trying some different art things, like trying dramatic camera angles (and hopefully not annoying readers with them) as well as some new photoshop things with the dark portal and Disgraph’s reveal.  I actually really like the panel with his eyes.  SO I’m happy.

Also, is it obvious I don’t play on an RP server?  I have a few friends who do, so I pick up some terms from them here and there.  My total RP time is probably about half a game of D&D before I couldn’t take it any more.  I was trying to get into it, but it’s kinda hard when all the other players know what they’re doing and you don’t.  I got really tired of breaking character and having to ask “Which dice do I roll now?” about every two minutes.

Well, there’s my post for this week.  Next update either Friday or Saturday.

This Week’s Update…

Is totally coming!  Don’t worry folks, it’ll be up shortly.  I’ve been announcing it on twitter, but figure I’ll put in on here for the RSS feeds.  Should be done in an hour or so.  Some fun artworks this week!
